Because firm breasts turn droopy with age, we help you give them a firmer and more attractive look!
Breast lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure, which raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. The procedure gives breasts a natural-looking and attractive appearance.
What are the indications for a breast lift?
Breast lifts are recommended for women suffering from breast ptosis, droopiness, or skin slackening. The objective of the procedure is to lift the breasts and eliminate cutaneous excess. The cause of slackening vary from one patient to another: breasts drop with age, but it is possible for a young patient to request a mastopexy. Loss of breast elasticity can also be due to significant weight loss or pregnancy.
It is possible that naturally large breasts drop due to their weight, which may cause neck and shoulder pains.
If the patient suffers from large breasts, the surgeon may suggest a breast reduction surgery. Contrarily, if breasts are droopy and lack volume, breast augmentation can be considered.
Who is a good candidate for breast lift surgery?
Breast lift surgery is a deeply personal choice that should stem from individual motivations, rather than external pressures or societal ideals. To be a suitable candidate for this procedure, several key criteria must be met. First and foremost, physical health and a stable weight are imperative. Maintaining good overall health and a consistent weight is crucial for a successful surgery and to minimize the risk of complications. Additionally, being a non-smoker is essential, as smoking can hinder the healing process and increase the chances of complications.
Candidates should be genuinely concerned about the sagging and loss of shape in their breasts. This often manifests as breasts appearing flatter, elongated, or pendulous when unsupported. The position of nipples and areolas is also a significant factor; they should naturally fall below the breast crease and point downward. Moreover, candidates may have stretched skin and enlarged areolas, both of which can be effectively addressed through a breast lift procedure. If there is asymmetry or unevenness in breast shape, breast lift surgery can provide a solution, helping to create a more balanced appearance.
Crucially, a suitable candidate must have realistic expectations about the outcomes of the procedure. It's vital to understand that breast lift surgery primarily focuses on lifting and reshaping the breasts, rather than making significant changes to their size. Therefore, individuals considering this surgery should do so with a clear understanding of what can be realistically achieved.

How should I prepare for breast lift surgery?
Before the procedure, a preliminary meeting will be made with the surgeon, during which the surgeon will examine the degree of sagging of the breast, the quality of the skin, and the general health of the patient. A complete health check-up as well as a blood test will have to be carried out. Some precautions should be taken by the patient before the operation: she must stop smoking at least two weeks before the procedure, and she will have to stop taking some drugs such as aspirin for example. The medications she will have to avoid at least one month before the procedure will be communicated to her by the surgeon.
What are the steps of a breast lift procedure?
The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and lasts for about two hours. Techniques used to remove breast skin and reshape breast tissue vary. The specific technique the surgeon chooses will determine the location of the incisions and the resulting scars. The surgeon will create an incision around the areola. The cut usually extends down the front of the breast, from the bottom of the areola to the crease. It may also extend along the sides of the areola. The surgeon will lift and reshape the breasts. Afterward, the surgeon will move the areolas to the correct position on the new breast shape. The surgeon will remove any extra skin to give the breasts a firmer appearance. Finally, the surgeon will close the incisions with stitches. Surgeons usually try to place incisions in parts of the breast where they will be less visible.
How Are Breast Implants Placed and Selected?
It is possible that the surgeon opts for the placement of breast implants if the patient has exceedingly small breasts or if the latter are not symmetrical. Breast implants are used to increase the size and volume of breasts giving them a perkier and more attractive appearance. This option can only be considered upon the patient’s consent or request. If the patient wishes to undergo a breast augmentation, several types of breast implants will be proposed to her. She may then choose the shape and volume of the implant according to her wishes.
What should I expect during my breast lift recovery?
Breast lift is not a particularly painful procedure. The surgeon will however prescribe the appropriate pain medication as the patient might experience discomfort in the days following surgery. Bruising and swelling are expected, but both will fade away rapidly. A support bra must be worn for one month. A recovery period of seven to ten days has to be taken. Physical activity can only be resumed after one or two months. It is recommended that the patient do not get pregnant during the six months following surgery.
What results should I expect after breast lift surgery?
Satisfactory results will be visible few weeks after the surgery: the breasts are firmer, perkier and have a natural-looking appearance. After a year, when the scars have completely faded, the patient can proudly admire the final result of the breast lift. This intervention preserves the sensitivity and natural appearance of the breasts.
