An increasing number of people are nowadays opting for buttock lift surgery. What renders this procedure popular among people is the influence of culture (the cult of the attractive body in south america), media propaganda, and several other factors.
There are numerous interventions for buttock lifting, all of which aim to give the patient a set of desired buttocks. Among these interventions, we mention
liposuction (suction of fat) to reduce the size of buttocks, buttock augmentation through
implanting or
fat grafting, and buttock lifting.

Good candidates for buttock-lift surgery
Buttock lifting is an aesthetic procedure that treats sagging skin in the buttock area. Droopiness can be the result of post-pregnancy, important weight loss, or aging. Genetics also play an important role in droopiness. It is not unusual that young patients or teenagers may suffer from sagginess of the buttocks.
Given that flabby, droopy, and saggy buttocks are unaesthetic, undergoing buttock lifting may be the ideal solution to lift the buttocks and give them a firmer and well-proportionate appearance.
Buttock-lift surgery: the procedure
Buttock lifting is performed under general anaesthesia and can last from one (1) to two (2) hours depending on the techniques employed during surgery.
The surgeon will perform one of the following interventions depending on the degree of skin slackening:
• Upper lift: this technique removes excess skin situated in the upper part of the buttocks, and then lifts them; therefore resulting in firmer and more contoured buttocks. It is possible to combine this procedure to fat grafting. In this case, fat is aspirated through liposuction from fatty sites of the body, and then injected into the patient’s buttocks. The aim of the procedure is to give the patient rounder and more attractive buttocks.
• Lower lift: this technique removes excess skin situated in the lower part of the buttocks. Thus, the scar is concealed in the fold of the lower buttocks.
Results of buttock-lift surgery
Post-surgical scarring after buttock lifting remains visible for several months, but is expected to fade away after one (1) year or so. It is possible to hide the scars easily with underwear. In the case of lower lift surgery, scarring will be invisible.
Results are immediately visible, but the patient has to wait for several weeks (until bruising and swelling disappear) to enjoy the results of the surgery. Final results are only visible after a year: the buttocks are firmer, tenser, and aesthetically-pleasing.
