Face lifting is a surgical technique that tightens facial skin and reduces signs of aging such as wrinkles and facial folds. Despite it being generally associated to different types of facelift, lifting can be also performed on saggy areas of the body such as the thighs, buttocks, arms, etc.
Nowadays, however, various face-lifting procedures are available; each of which addresses a specific section of the face (from the forehead to the neck).
Frontal lift
This involves a tightening of the forehead, which is achieved through resecting excess skin. Today, frontal lifts are usually performed endoscopically in order to avoid large scars at the hairline.
Temporal lift or brow lift
A temporal lift is a procedure that corrects forehead wrinkles, frown lines, furrows between the eyebrows, and sagging eyebrows by lifting the entire eyebrow and forehead area.
Frontotemporal lift
The main objective of a frontotemporal lift is to restore a more youthful appearance to the forehead, eyebrows and eyelids by correcting skin slackening in those areas and attenuating droopy folds.
Centrofacial lift
Centrofacial lift is a mid-face surgery that treats inferior eyelids, cheekbones, sides of the nose, the nasolabial folds, and the jowls. Centrofacial lift is usually performed endoscopically in order to avoid large scars.
Upper-lip lift
Upper-lip lift corrects cutaneous slackening in the upper lip due to aging or genetics. The latter can cover the teeth or give the mouth an unsightly appearance.
Cervico-facial lift
Cervico-facial lift is carried out to surgically correct skin aging from the temples to the jowls. The simple restoration of the different anatomical structures of the face and neck (skin, muscle, fat) enables the patient to regain their looks as they were several years ago.
Neck lift
A neck lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that enhances neck appearance by correcting any sagging and excess fat deposition in the neck area.
the latter techniques are only performed with the fulfilment of certain criteria like the patient’s age, wishes, skin quality, and degree of skin laxity, and the surgeon’s decision. Such lifting techniques can be also combined to other non-surgical ones like the injection of
botulinum toxin or
hyaluronic acid.
